Ethical decisions

"Ethics are personal standards of right and wrong. They are the basis of maing ethically sensitive decisions". However, do we always made ethical decisions? If you were a mom and your kid was starving, would you steal to survive?
On the one hand, people would prefer to take the right decision even if this means sacrificing other life. Some people believe that if they didn´t take ethical decisions, like being dishonest, because their conscience would be crashed for ever. In addition, some people could not continue living if they know that they have stolen someone for personal health.
People must always take ethical decisions. For instance, when you are on a life or death situation with other group of people, you will always try to save a life even though you could escape alone easily. This happens because you will feel guilty for a long time and of that is not easy to recover. For example, if you are on a flat in fire with your family, you will prefer saving others life than yours.
On the other hand, your survival instinct is stronger than conscience. Survival instinct is the instinct in humans and animals to do things in a dangerous situation that will prevent them from dying. If your son or brother is starving you can even kill to save their lifes. Another example, is that in some cases you could do anything to survive. This is clearly seen in the story of the old christians rugby team. This team, their friends, family and associates, crashed in the Andes on 13 October 1972. More than a quarter of the passengers died in the crash. The survivors had little food and no source of heat in the harsh conditions at over 3,600 metres (11,800 ft) altitude. Faced with starvation and radio news reports that the search for them had been abandoned, the survivors fed on the dead passengers who had been preserved in the snow.
In conclusion, people could be strong enough to make ethical decisions but also is always there the survival instinct that is inside us.
